In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the film Gulabo Sitabo was the first to go the digital way. After Gulabo Sitabo, Amazon Prime Video bagged Vidya Balan’s Shakuntala Devi as well, which is to release soon. It was recently when Disney+ Hotstar announced the digital release of seven Bollywood films including Dil Bechara, Laxmmi Bomb, Sadak 2, Bhuj: The Pride Of India, Big Bull, Khuda Hafiz, and Lootcase. Now, after Janhvi Kapoor’s Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Netflix bags Ekta Kapoor’s Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare in the race against Amazon Prime Video, as per reports.

According to a BollywoodHungama report, streaming platform Netflix has bagged the film Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare featuring Konkona Sen Sharma and Bhumi Pednekar in pivotal roles. A source close to the development revealed that the team of Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare have been talking to various digital players including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+ Hotstar, and after taking the monetary offers by all OTT platforms under consideration, Netflix has bagged the film.

The source said, “Since May, the team of Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare have been talking to various digital players, including Netflix, Amazon and Hotstar. After taking into consideration the monetary offers by all platforms, it was Netflix who bagged the film by paying the maximum amount.” The source in the report also continued to reveal that OTT platform Amazon Prime Video was also in the race to buy the film considering that director, Alankrita Shrivastava’s last release, Lipstick Under My Burkha received some great response, but eventually, Netflix won the deal. Talking about the director Alankrita Shrivastava, the source said, “She also helmed Made In Heaven with Zoya Akhtar for Amazon. However, after a lot of discussions, her directorial finally went to Netflix.”


Meanwhile, talking about the film Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, it revolves around two cousins Dolly and Kajal and is based on the secret they share. The film also stars Chhapaak actor Vikrant Massey in a pivotal role.
